My Dehydrator...

I got my dehydrator as a wedding present two years ago.  I used it twice, once to make beef jerky, and once to make dried bananas, then it sat in the box in storage ever since.  It’s the round Nesco, American Harvest brand with the wide spaces in the trays.  Well, in my defense we have been in the process of moving for two years.  When I started the raw, I dug it out.  I researched how to make raw vegan bread on various recipe sites.  It looked simple enough.  A little bit of zucchini, some onion, salt, nutritional yeast, flax seeds … I even soaked my flax seed overnight then ground them up till they looked like a big ball of snot.  No lie, that’s what soaked, ground, flax seeds look like… They’re like that to hold everything in the bread together.  They’re like vegan eggs.

Anyway, I got it all mixed up together and was ready to dehydrate them.  I took the dehydrator out of the box… Wait a minute… There’s only one of those fruit roll up dehydrator do-hickies to put the bread on.  Ok, I’ll put it on there and see how much I have left.  Oh, I failed to mention that in my excitement, I had made a double batch of this concoction.  I had tonnes left.  What can I put on those trays so that it doesn’t get stuck in the gaps or just drip out.  Hmmm… I have saran wrap, tin foil, or wax paper.  I’ll use the wax paper.  I filled all four trays with bread and still had more so I put some on a cookie sheet with wax paper and stuck it in the oven on low with the door open (if you don’t have a dehydrator, you can use this method).

I waited and waited.  Ding!!  My bread is ready!!  Oh yuck… The bread was completely stuck to the fruit roll up dehydrator do-hickies.  Good thing I used wax paper on the rest of them.  Oh NO!!  I learned a valuable lesson that day.  Parchment!!!   Parchment paper can be used in the oven and in a dehydrator and the food comes right off.  If you use wax paper, it will be stuck in your food forever.  The whole double batch of bread was wrecked.  Meh, I made up a better recipe anyway lol.  It’s naturally sweet and yummy!!
